Gala For the Children

My loverrly gf and I made this Flash evite together for Children's Medical Center Foundation of Central Texas.

Peace Council

I made this Flash site for Peace Council while working at Pixeldust + NiceMonster. I think the design turned out well; made with Action Script 2.0

Ballet Austin

This is a brochure I worked on for the rebranding of Ballet Austin in their 'Find Your Center' campaign. I designed the cover and the photography by Andrew Yates made this a successful piece. If you haven't gone to the new B.D.E.C. studio you should go, its quite shnazzy.

Brocca Gallery

I made this logo for the Brocca Gallery which opened in 2007. I liked the oil pastel texture which I took from their initial sketches, and thought the colors blended well together.

Club 511

You can't go to jail for making logos can you? This logo was for a local "card room", The 511 Club. The owners wanted a mark that didn't explicitly allude to card games/gambling but that did suggest "invitation only". I've always liked Hollywood gangster drama and grew up reading Dick Tracey, so I illustrated a secret peephole.

Lights

This was a product design experiment with corrugated plastic. I tested the plastic's innate qualities, such as durability, resistance to heat, etc., and found the plastic's most interesting quality was its ability to melt and remold. I then began to layer the sheets on top of one another, and cut them with a radial arm saw, which produced dense blocks of molten plastic. The strength and weightlessness of these blocks could have been applied to any number of products, but I wanted to integrate lights,so the project turned into these architectural desklamps that use cold cathode fixtures.

Project A

Project A was a series of art openings and concerts hosted at Shady Tree Studios. Sarah Raymer, the event organizer, invited artists from around Texas to meet in Austin and share ideas, in hopes that they would influence each others work; I designed the program identity to signify community and growth.

Sedaris

One of my friends lent me a copy of 'Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim' by David Sedaris, and I thought it would be nice to make the book a protective case. I wanted to show off the beautiful cover by Chip Kidd while hiding the case's magnetic locks.

Self-folding shirt

Yep that's right, this shirt does everything except wash itself.

UT e.vite

The University of Texas Design school puts on a Senior Show every year and I made this e-vite in After Effects to welcome a crowd.

You've reached lil' known, the digital hub of graphic designer and aspiring concept artist Mike Lozano. I'm currently taking classes in game design and writing for GamesPlusBlog.com. I like corgi's, board games, and Ray Bradbury but have yet to combine them effectively.
